Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2 announced, coming in the next year

Ubisoft

Far Cry 5 is in development and is scheduled to be released before April 2018, publisher Ubisoft announced today.

It is one of four games from major Ubisoft franchises that are slated to launch in the company’s 2017-18 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2018. The other three titles are an Assassin’s Creed game, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and The Crew 2, the company said today in the earnings release for its 2016-17 fiscal year.

The Far Cry announcement came on the series’ official Twitter account, with a tweet pointing fans to subscribe to Ubisoft’s U.S. YouTube channel for “more updates” on “new Far Cry adventures.” In addition, a Far Cry 5 section has appeared in the official Ubisoft forums. The tweet also included an image with a very basic Far Cry 5 logo:

Far Cry 5 will be the first Far Cry game since the Stone Age-based Far Cry Primal, which was released in February 2016. The most recent “proper” entry in the franchise was 2014’s Far Cry 4.

Ubisoft’s earnings report only mentioned a follow-up to The Crew, the open-world racing game that was released in December 2014. But a community manager for the game confirmed its title as The Crew 2, posting a logo in the Ubisoft forums along with the following message: “Beyond the road… Stay with us for more high octane thrills!”

Ubisoft announced in February that it had pushed South Park: The Fractured But Whole into its 2017-18 fiscal year. That was the second delay for the role-playing game, which was originally scheduled to launch last December.

As for Assassin’s Creed, we don’t know yet anything official about this year’s game, which will be the first entry in the franchise since 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. However, multiple media reports have pegged the game as a prequel set in ancient Egypt called Assassin’s Creed Origins.
