“Enemies to the east, enemies to the west, enemies to the south, enemies to the north. Whoever stands in our way, we will defeat them.”
That’s how the new trailer for Game of Thrones’ seventh season begins, with Cersei Lannister promising that the army at King’s Landing will do whatever they can to ensure the Lannisters will remain in power. Meanwhile, Jon Snow is preparing his army as King in the North, while Daenerys Targaryen sets her eyes on King’s Landing, ready to take what is rightfully hers.
“I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms,” Daenerys says at one point in the trailer.
This is the first time in nearly 11 months that Game of Thrones fans have seen any live-action footage from the new season. HBO has released a couple of teasers before this, which included footage that won’t be in the new season, but everything seen in this 90-second trailer is from the seventh season.
Game of Thrones will return to HBO on July 16 for its second-to-last season.
