Justice League trailer has fans worried about the movie’s lesser known hero, Cyborg

Warner Bros. debuted its first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League today and one of the biggest concerns fans were left with centered on the hero people have seen the least of: Cyborg.

The new trailer provided the best look at the character yet, including his CGI costume and giving him some of his first lines since he was announced. Although he’s in the trailer far less than a few of the other heroes — most notably Aquaman and Batman — it was just enough for people to finally get a real sense of what Cyborg would bring to the film.

Most fans agree that actor Ray Fisher has the perfect voice for the character, but admitted they were concerned his costume would appear like a gimmick on screen standing next to Wonder Woman and Batman.

Just watched the Justice League trailer. My only gripe is Cyborg looks like shit.

Why does Cyborg look like he's from a PS2 cutscene? ;-; pic.twitter.com/A2wB7YY2GB

The last time i saw visual effects as bad as Cyborg's was X:Men Origins Wolverine. Cyborg bout to spend the entire movie rendering.

I am still shocked they went with the "CGI Vomit"/"Rejected Transformers" look for Cyborg as it looks awful in stills and in motion.

Cyborg may be a new character to fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), but he’s managed to develop a band of loyal followers over the years thanks to his role in the comics and the cartoon series, Teen Titans. The latter especially turned the character into one of the most beloved heroes.

Teen Titans ran for three years on Cartoon Network and The WB. It brought together Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire and Raven — everyone with the exception of Robin considered not as widely known — and followed them as they lived together in Titan Tower, fighting crimes.

Teen Titans acted as one of the main introduction point for Cyborg to a large number of DC fans, and one of the best aspects of his character was the vulnerability he showed around his teammates. There have been complaints from fans that Cyborg, otherwise known as Victor Stone, won’t get to take on the same kind of personality as he did in the animated series.

And there's definitely room for a Teen Titans run in this Universe that this Cyborg would be perfect for

Even Fisher confessed that his first encounter with the character was through Teen Titans. During a panel at Rhode Island Comic Con, Fisher said Teen Titans was a very important show for him growing up, and that’s how he imagined the character when he was pitched it originally for Justice League.

“You know, I was in the middle of high school [when Teen Titans debuted], and I was like, ‘This show speaks to me’ because there were all of these characters going through these real teen issues while also saving the world,” Fisher said, as reported by ComicBook.com. “The extent of my knowledge was just about that.”

It wasn’t until 2011 that Cyborg was named one of the founding members of the Justice League in DC’s reboot, best known as the New 52.

With the movie still months away, there’s still time for director Zack Snyder to bring a little more light to the character and what he’s capable of. Justice League will be released on Nov. 17.
