Nintendo’s airing a special presentation this Wednesday, April 12, at 6 p.m. ET. This Nintendo Direct — the first in a long, long while — will focus on the company’s lineup of Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles to come.
Much of the focus this time will be on Armsand Splatoon 2, two major, original releases heading to the Switch later this spring. The company has yet to announce release dates for either game, so Wednesday’s Direct could be the time to do that.
We got to go hands-on with Splatoon 2 in March, when the company held a global multiplayer stress test. Our biggest takeaway was that the stylish squid shooter was more of the same — and we mean that as a compliment.
As for Arms, it’s a new property from Nintendo, so that’s the portion of the Direct that’s most exciting. The multiplayer fighter uses the Joy-Con controllers in a variety of positions, including vertically, as the superheroic characters can punch each other with special moves.
Other games we could see more from are Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Ever Oasis, both due for Nintendo 3DS this year. We’ll have the livestream up on Polygon, so be sure to check in this Wednesday.
