Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds resets its leaderboard tomorrow morning

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, the online survival shooter that everyone seems to be playing right now, is resetting its global leaderboard tomorrow morning. That means you have less than 24 hours to be terrible at it before things get serious.

I was blissfully unaware that PUBG even had a leaderboard until our last Awful Squad stream when Griffin McElroy brought it to my attention. After a lifetime spent shooting at people in video games, I can safely say that I’ve never felt quite as inadequate as when I realized I was only ranked 470,985th.

At least I broke into the top half-million, I guess.

Of course, maybe the problem is that I’m just playing it wrong. I like to go it alone, rather than play with other people. That makes it kind of a crapshoot. Between bad loot spawns and the fact that I just don’t have eyes in the back of my head, I can’t seem to break out of the mid teens.

I’m sure that others feel the same way when they play solo …

Hm. Well, anyway.

Our colleagues over at Glixel have inspired me to try out the two-player mode later this week, so we’ll see how that goes.

The server wipe happens at 7:00 am UTC tomorrow, which translates to 3:00 am ET. The new season will go live five hours later according to a tweet on the official account. Keep your heads low, and good luck out there.
