With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2in theaters, it’s time to start looking forward to the next Marvel superhero event of the summer — Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Sony released a new clip from its upcoming movie, which is being made in partnership with Marvel Studios, at the MTV Movie and TV Awards last night. In the clip, seen below, a young Peter Parker can be seeing crawling back into his room, back from one of his escapades as New York’s web slinging hero. He’s immediately caught by his best friend, Ned Leeds, who admonishes Peter for not confiding in him that Peter was the famous hero he had seen on YouTube.

Naturally, the clip also references Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers. As we said in a previous story, Marvel is going to do everything it can to remind the audience that this is Spider-Man’s big return home to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although we saw what we could do in Captain America: Civil Warlast year, Homecoming marks the feature length debut for the superhero as part of Marvel’s property. When asked if he’s a member of the Avengers, Peter shrugs his shoulders and answers that he basically is.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first Spider-Man movie within the MCU, but it won’t be the last. Actor Tom Holland is set to do three stand-alone films and will appear in at least two more Marvel movies, including Avengers: Infinity.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7.
