The co-founder and chief executive officer of Telltale Games is stepping down.
Kevin Bruner had been the CEO of Telltale since January 2015. He will be succeeded by Dan Connors. Connors, also a co-founder of the company, has a long history in game development dating back to LucasArts, which he joined in 1994 according to his LinkedIn profile.
Reached for comment, Telltale’s head of creative communications Job Stauffer told Polygon that “Kevin has led Telltale over the past couple of years after he stepped into the CEO role for co-founder Dan Connors in 2015. With Kevin departing, Telltale is fortunate to have Dan here to step back seamlessly into the CEO role."
Telltale has completed a major round of marketing for its Walking Dead series, as well as its upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy title. It included stops at the Game Developers Conference, a panel at PAX East and a live-play experience at SXSW.
In an internal email shared with Kotaku, which first reported the news, Bruner told his staff that it was time for him to move on.
“We’ve grown aggressively since Telltale’s inception, and now Telltale is bigger than I ever dreamed it would be,” Bruner reportedly said. “There are many possible futures for Telltale, and all of them are exciting and uniquely challenging. The time has come to pass the reins to someone that can better drive Telltale to the next level and realize all the potential that is here.”
