The Last Jedi’s new poster gets Duke Nukem, Rick and Morty treatment as meme

Lucasfilm/Disney

The first poster for Star Wars: The Last Jediwas finally revealed last Friday at Star Wars Celebration ahead of the teaser trailer, but some people just aren’t happy with the result.

That’s not to reference the small faction of fans who were outright mad about the design of the new poster — a design that went over pretty well with the majority of Star Wars fans — but rather a group of people who took the poster’s art and rejigged it to reference other pieces of television, film or internet culture.

Everything from Rick and Morty to Duke Nukem and “Crying Jordan” managed to find their way to the poster somehow. Most of the poster designers decided to replace the large, looming faces of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren with other characters. In the Rick and Morty poster, for example, the titular characters take up the majority of the poster, while Summer Smith acts in as a stand-in for Rey.

In other posters, Luke and Kylo Ren have been left in their original spots, but Rey has been removed. “Crying Jordan” and John Travolta’s character in Pulp Fiction, which has also become a well-known meme, are a few good examples.

Collected above are some of the better versions of the meme going around, but since the Photoshopping contest of sorts began over the weekend, it’s shown no sign of slowing down.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on Dec. 15.
