At the ripe old age of two, Jasmine Johnson has already settled on her favorite Pokémon: Pikachu. To surprise her for Easter, her dad — you may know him as “The Rock” — decided to dress up as the beloved electric mouse and spend the day with her. A short Instagram video lets us peek inside Jasmine Johnson’s subsequent favorite afternoon of all time, but it also confirms that the six-foot-five Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson makes for one scary Pikachu.
The first time Jasmine's favorite character, Pikachu came to visit her months ago she was only crawling. For Easter Sunday @laurenhashianofficial and I thought, Pikachu should make a special visit once again. Well, Pikachu didn't account for the fact that now Jazzy RUNS and for 2hrs straight she wants to play her new favorite game, "I run away and you chase me Pikachu. And you're not allowed to take a break until I go night night". At the end of the vid you can hear her yell, "Peekyu" because she can't say, Pikachu. I'm tired, today's my only day off, it's 118 degrees in this costume and Hobbs keep trying to p*ss on my leg. And I luv every minute of it. Bring it on. It's what daddy's do. Happy Easter to you guys and enjoy your families. #Rockachu #DaddyPuttinInWork #TheGameThatNeverEnds #PikachuLooksBloated

“The first time Jasmine's favorite character, Pikachu came to visit her months ago she was only crawling,” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “For Easter Sunday [Lauren Hashian, Johnson’s wife] and I thought, Pikachu should make a special visit once again.”
Johnson’s got experience in that Pikachu costume, but that doesn’t mean he was comfortable inside of it. The suit was blazingly hot; the family dog kept peeing on his foot; and little Jasmine Johnson can apparently outrun her dad by a country mile.
“Well, Pikachu didn't account for the fact that now Jazzy RUNS,” recounted Johnson, “and for 2hrs straight she wants to play her new favorite game, ‘I run away and you chase me Pikachu. And you're not allowed to take a break until I go night night.’ At the end of the vid you can hear her yell, ‘Peekyu’ because she can't say, Pikachu.”
It’s nice that Johnson’s little girl can so easily buy her dad as Pikachu, but us elderly cynics find a couple of issues with the actor’s portrayal of the Pokémon. There’s the obvious height differential between Johnson and the Pikachu, which really freaks us out. There’s also the matter of, as an Easter present, Pikachu is a curious choice. We understand the intent, but Pikachu’s rabbit-like ears are misleading. It’s no Easter bunny — Pikachu is an electric mouse, we’ll have you know.
Lastly, and most disturbingly, Johnson’s Pikachu doesn’t have a tail. Pikachu’s tail is an integral part of its look, so without one, we’re not sure this really even qualifies.
Our quibbles aside, this is a really sweet holiday gift from a dad to his daughter. We just hope Jasmine didn’t happen to see Pikachu without its head on, so that the dream can live on for as long as possible.
